If you want eternally-young looking skin, you need to try two new anti-aging products that REALLY work, plus use sunscreen, explains top NYC dermatologist, Dr. Bruce Katz.
Here’s the great news if you want to have the kind of young-looking skin that star like J-Lo, 42, Jennifer Aniston, 42, and Halle Berry, 45, have no matter how old they get. You can have it too!
“Using a sunscreen on your face everyday with an SPF of 15, or SPF 30 if you’re going to be out in the sun, is the BEST anti-aging tactic you can do,” says Dr. Bruce Katz, from Juva Skin & Laser Center in NYC.
“Just make sure your sunscreen includes one of these three ingredients: zinc oxide, titanium dioxide or avobenzone. So check the ingredient list.
Then you should start your own daily anti-aging regime. Dr. Katz recommends that you to use a green tea extract face moisturizer or serum after washing in the morning.
“Green tea extract has been proven to be 80 times more effective as an anti-oxidant than vitamin C, another popular anti-oxidant,” he explains. Studies now show this, he says.
Anti-oxidants actually neutralize “free radicals” which are “unmatched” electrons in your skin. The unmatched electrons disrupt and break down cells. The anti-oxidants in green tea extract neutralize the electrons and prevent them from damaging your healthy cells, he explains.
Dr. Katz suggests his Juva Spa Green Tea Triple Antioxidant Cream, but you can also look for other green tea moisturizers in pharmacies on online like Proactive’s Green Tea Moisturizer, Alba’s Aloe & Green Tea Oil-Free Moisturizer and H2O’s Green Tea Antioxidant Face Complex.
Then your next step is to use a moisturizer by Neocutis at night after washing. The Neocutis product contains growth factors which again have been shown in clinical studies to slow down the aging of skin cells.
The key is to “use different agents that work differently to slow down the aging of the skin,” says Dr. Katz.
Sounds doable. So you too can have skin as youthful as top Hollywood stars no matter what your age!

How To Protect Protect Your Skin From Winter Sun Damage
When my doctor recommended I soak up some sun after discovering my vitamin D levels were dangerously low, I thought to myself: Am I slathering on too much sunscreen?
I'll admit that I've become quite obsessive about skin cancer prevention after meeting a twenty-something melanoma survivor last winter. But I wasn't about to skimp out on my sunscreen because this season has fewer patches of sunshine.
"Don't be misled by the dropping temperature," warns Dr. Bruce E. Katz, director of the JUVA Skin & Laser Center in New York. "The sun's harmful rays are just as strong and damaging despite what your thermometer says -- particularly the UVA rays which are responsible for aging skin. UVA radiation reaches deeper into skin and contributes to wrinkles and skin cancer risk. Nearly all (95 percent) of the UV radiation that we are exposed to is UVA."
Dr. Alex A. Khadavi, founder of Advanced Skin & Hair adds, "Reflection of radiation from snow requires aggressive sunscreen protection, maybe even more than summertime as individuals participate in snow activities like skiing and snowboarding. Almost 80 percent of UV radiation is reflected from snow while only 25 percent from sand."
Reconsider physical sunscreen. While this type of sunblock--which contains Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide--may be messy to apply, it offers the best year-round protection. "They provide better broad spectrum coverage as compared to chemical-based sunscreen which are usually either UVB or UVA blockers," says Dr. Khadavi. "Additionally, physical blockers work for a longer period of time giving longer coverage requiring less re-application. They are also less irritating than chemical blockers."
Beware of sunsreen's archenemy: sweat. "Many think that simply applying your daily SPF moisturizer once in the morning is sufficient for a day's worth of coverage. If you are outdoors and bundled up your skin still sweats and SPF needs to be reapplied throughout the day." says Dr. Katz. Continuously smooth on a naturally healing and moisturizing sunblock with a minimum of SPF 30, making sure that it has fully absorbed into skin.
Those may not be just any old spots. "Freckles, age spots, spider veins on the face, rough and leathery skin, fine wrinkles that disappear when stretched, loose skin, a blotchy complexion, and actinic keratoses (thick wartlike, rough, reddish patches of skin) can all be traced to sun exposure. The sun also attacks the skin's elastin, weakening the skin from springing back, and causing wrinkled and leathery skin," says Dr. Katz. "During the winter, look out for any rough, red skin, an increase in moles and broken blood vessels on teh face to detect sun damage. Also be aware any cuts or bruises on your skin that are not healing as this may be an early sign of skin cancer."
Protect your pucker. Windburn lips can be a pain, but to prevent this apply a petroleum-infused lip balm with SPF.
Enhance your sun protection with the right foods. "In general, fruits and vegetables are foods high in antioxidants and help us fight free radicals and sun damage, while foods such as meat, dairy products, simple carbohydrates, sugar and processed foods cause inflammation and can contribute to making sun damage worse," says Dr. Katz.
According to Dr. Khadavi, foods like leafy greens, peppers, squash, watermelon, blueberries and tomatoes that rich in vitamin C and the antioxidants caroteniods and lycopenes can help prevent sun damage.
Meanwhile, check out the solutions to eight cold-weather skin and hair bummers.

Botox Stripped Down: New Injectable Xeomin Hits Shelves
NEW YORK, Oct, 18, 2011/ PRNewswire via COMTEX/--The JUVA Skin & Laser Center, New York's premier destination for the most advanced skin and laser treatments, will be among the first 100 dermatology offices in the US to receive Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) for cosmetic use beginning October 2011.
Xeomin, a Merz Aesthetics product, is being referred to as the "naked injectable" by physicians because it does not contain any additives or complex proteins. The benefit of this, according to Dr. Bruce Katz, Clinical Professor of Dermatology at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Director of the JUVA Skin & Laser Center in New York, is that the body is less likely to have an adverse reaction to the treatment than with Botox. Side effects and efficacy are expected to be similar to other botulinum toxin products.
"We are thrilled to have another highly effective botulinum toxin available to treat frown lines - which is still one of the most commonly treated areas here at JUVA, "said Dr. Bruce Katz. "By being selected to offer this cutting edge product to our clients as early as possible the JUVA Skin & Laser Center is once again at the forefront of the latest advancements in skin treatment. We expect that the availability of Xeomin will offer even more safety assurance to patients opting for this type of an injectable treatment and ultimately create some friendly price competition among its competitors."
Xeomin was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in July for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabeller lines, more commonly known as frown lines between the eyebrows, in adult patients. This approval was based on two clinical trials that found that Xeomin significantly improved the appearance of glabellar lines 30 days following the first injection.
Xeomin will be available in dermatology offices around the United States in the spring of 2012; however, JUVA Skin & Laser Center will be offering the treatment as early as October 2011. It is also approved for the improvement of glabellar lines in 14 countries in Europe under the brand name Bocouture.
For more information about the JUVA Skin & Laser Center please visit http://www.juvaskin.com/ or call 212-688-5882. Please visit us on Facebook to learn more about our recent media appearances and updates.

Sandra Bullock showed up to support her BFF Ryan Reynolds at 'The Change Up' premiere and ended up stealing the show!
The HOT mama puts fellow women of her age to shame. She is 47! Sandra Bullock has been one of the hottest women in Hollywood for almost two decades now, but I think she is getting better with age. Walking the red carpet on Ryan Reynold's arm on August 1, Sandra glowed. We spoke with world renowned dermatologist Dr. Bruce Katz, from Juva Skin & Laser Center in NYC, who gave us his insight onto what Sandra may be doing to keep her skin looking so youthful.
"She definitely get's some Botox in her forehead, probably both on her frontal and horizontal lines. However, it does not look she has any around her eyes since there are still some lines - this keeps her looking natural. She also probably gets fractional lasers which helps to keep the skin tight. It is also possible that she gets fillers around her laugh lines and cheeks, such as Radieese or Juvederm," explains Dr. Katz.
Sandra looks amazing for her age and though it might not be without the help of a few dermatologists, she still looks natural. You go, Sandra!

Psoriases Patients Are Saying "Here Comes The Sun"
NYC JUVA Skin & Laser Center Offers Relief For Patients Thanks To XTRAC Laser
New York, NY - While the summer is a time to shed layers of clothing and show some skin, those suffering from psoriasis, an embarrassing skin condition that affects 7.5 million Americans, don't get to enjoy the warm weather. Dr. Bruce Katz, director of the renowned JUVA Skin & Laser Center in New York, has been able to give psoriases patients relief with the XTRA Excimer Laser, an FDA-cleared highly effective phototherapy treatment offering safe, effective and lasting results.
At the JUVA Skin & Laser Center in New York, an unparalleled and comprehensive facility offering the latest breakthroughs in skin treatments, Dr. Bruce Katz is able to quickly and painlessly treat the red, dry patches of scaly, thickened skin that is a result of psoriases to reveal flawless, smoother skin after a series of XTRAC Laser treatments. Since the cost of the treatment is covered by most insurance companies, XTRAC Laser treatments are easily accessible and affordable.
Depending on the extent and severity of the patient's psoriases, each procedure is only about five to seven minutes. Noticeable improvements are usually seen within three or four treatments, with many patients seeing 75 percent or more improvement in as few as six to ten treatments and average remission periods lasting 4-6 months, often longer. The laser is effective even in areas that are difficult to treat, such as elbows, knees and the scalp. XTRAC Laser treatments have been successful with psoriasis that has spread across as much as 20 percent of body surface area.
"What makes the XTRAC Laser so revolutionary in relieving psoriasis is that it avoids the often dangerous consequences of other treatment approaches, such as topical steriods, full-body UVB exposure, systemic medications or biologics," said Dr. Katz, Director of the Body Contouring Center of JUVA. "Those techniques may produce a range of effects, from premature aging of healthy skin to the risk of malignancies and tuberculosis. The safe and effective XTRAC Laser has not been associated with any of those kinds of side effects, because the XTRAC Laser uses a precisely focused beam of ultraviolet light only on the affected skin area, avoiding exposure to healthy skin."
For more information about the XTRAC Laser or to schedule a consultation with Dr. Bruce Katz please call 212-688-5882 or visit www.juvaskin.com

Bonnie Says: Sharon Evans, The Mom Injecting Her 8-year-Old With Botox & Lip Fillers Is A Child Abuser!
Poor little Bree Evans needs to be protected from her deluded single mother who is abusing her both physically and emotionally. Don't YOU agree?
Sharon Evans, 33, may not be beating her eight-year-old daughter but she is battering her nonethless. The San Francisco Dept. of Child Protective Services has launched an investigation into this frightening situation and I hope they move swiftly to end this abuse.
Poor Bree is being injected every two months with BOTOX in the creases of her forehead and every three months with fillers in her lips. Her misguided mother thinks these so-called "beauty procedures" will help her become a bigger star than Will Smith's songstress daughter, Willow, 10.
Right now, she's entering Bree in beauty pageants for little girls and thinks the beauty procedures she's subjected her daughter to, will give her an edge on the competition. Oh, and she's also tattooed eyebrows on the little girl and plans to soon tattoo the eight-year-old's lips with lip liner.
It's absolutely dangerous according to plastic surgeon Dr. Adam Schaffner, Director of JUVA Plastic Surgery in NYC. "There's a risk of cosmetic deformity in which the girl would not have normal movement of her facial muscles,"he explains. "The lip fillers could cause an infection or even tissue death - called necrosis. In my opinion, the authorities should consider bringing charges against this mother."
Schaffner points out that on bottles of BOTOX is says: "Federal law restricts this device for sale by or on the order of a physician or licensed practioner."
Sharon Evans is a beautician, which she says qualifies her to use BOTOX or fillers, but Dr. Schaffner tells Hollybaby.com that beauticians are nOT "licensed healthcare practitioners who are authorized to inject BOTOX Cosmetic or filler materials."
Physical risks aside, this appearance-mad mother is inflicting enormous emotional damage on her daughter, say family therapists! And I couldn't be more in agreement! This woman is nuts and her daughter will pay the price!
"I question the motivation and even the sanity of doing something like this to a child, "says psychiatrist Dr. Jeff Gardere, a contributor to healthguru.com. Bree could be addicted to having these cosmetic procedures. She may feel she's not pretty without BOTOX injections. And when she's odler she could graduate to more severe cosmetic procedures. A social worker should look into this as a child abuse case."
Listen, this child is at the very least being subjected to unnecessary and physically dangerous procedures that could harm her. She has no say over what is being done to her. Her own mother is playing Russian roulette with her health. It's a little like Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy which is abuse, typically of a child, by an adult - often a mother - in order to seek attention or sympathy for the abuser.
But in this case, Bree's mother is seeking attention by trying to turn her daughter into a beauty pageant star! And she's given not an iota of thought to the consequences of her idiotic actions.
First of all, she's teaching her daughter that her outer appearance is all-important versus her intellect.
Secondly, she's making it extremely likely that Bree will develop an eating disorder, believes a family therapist Dr. Jenn Berman, author of The A to Z Guide to Raising Happy Confident Kids. "She is being taught that her worth and value are based on how many wrinkles she has. She will likely suffer from low self-esteem. In fact, it's pretty much a guarantee that a child in this situation could have a severe mid-life crisis when she's older."
I know that the San Francisco Human Services Agency is investigating the Evans case after receiving a large number of calls to the city's child abuse hotline, but I hope they investigate quickly.
This mother has to be told that she must stop injecting her daughter now and for good or she will lose custody of little Bree.

Traditional Cosmetic Surgery Gets A Wakeup Call
New Twist on Trusted Procedures: Surgery without "Going Under" Anesthesia
May 11, 2011 (New York, NY) - Women looking for a way to rejuvenate their aging face or enhance their appearance often investigate plastic surgery options but hesitate to undergo any radical procedures due to the expense and side effects associated with undergoing surgery. JUVA Skin & Laser Center in New York is constantly offering patients new ways to feel comfortable with having a procedure performed by finding new ways to minimize recovery time and side effects. By performing certain surgerires without general anesthesia in the comfort of an accredited surgery center, like the one found at JUVA Skin & Laser Center, risk, recovery time and expenses are reduced.
Adam D. Schaffner, M.D., F.A.C.S, Director of Plastic Surgery at JUVA Skin & Laser Center, is offering an option for those individuals who wish to have a facelift, eyelid lift or breast augmentation but do not want to "go under" anesthesia. By using local anesthesia to numb the face, a person can have a mini-facelift, full facelift or eyelid lift safely performed without having to assume the risks or undesirable side effects associated with general anesthesia. Breast augmentation may also be performed under local anesthesia with IV sedation to avoid risks and side effects associated with general anesthesia.
"At JUVA, our patients come to use for state-of-the-art, specialized procedures in plastic surgery. Being able to perform plastic surgery without having to "go under" anesthesia offers those individuals with busy lives a safe and affordable approach to reversing the signs of aging," said Dr. Adam Schaffner. "At JUVA, we are constantly perfecting the way our patients look while remaining senstitive to their concerns."
For more information, please see http://www.juvaplasticsurgery.com/ or call (212)688-5882. The above written by Dr. Adam Schaffner from Juva Skin & Laser Center.

The Modern Day Fountain Of Youth
Posted on April 18, 2011/ Filed under Beauty, For the Face:
No one is a fan of the aging process. Men and women alike constantly fight the idea and reality of growing old. As the years start to show themselves on our face thre isn't anything you wouldn't consider to help turn back the time. When we reach a certain age, which of course varies for each of us, a telltale sign of the years under our belt (and stresses that came with it) is our eyes. Once the focal point of our aesthetic. the eyes are now the place where wrinkles, fine lines and crow's feet grow. It is also the place that lets the world know just how fatigued we might be by its drooping skin and puffy circles. In the past, many have turned to traditional eyelid surgery to help restore conditions resulting from aging, but such invasive procedures leave many weary of costs involved, side effects and recovery time. Now however, men and women have been turning to non-invasive procedures to save them time and money.
Dr. Katz at the JUVA Skin & Laser Center has been working with fractional CO2 lasers to pioneer "The Madonna Lift," a new fractional eyelift procedure that acts as a safe and effective alternative to traditional eyelid surgery. Fractional CO2 works by using laser beam-like columns, targeting a very specific area while leaving surrounding tissue intact. These beams eliminate damaged collagen and elastic fibers in the skin so that fresh tissue with new elasticity can grow back in its place. As a result, the Madonna Lift dramatically reduces the appearance of drak circles, fine lines and wrinkles, tightens upper and lower eyelid skin, and helps to elevate drooping eyebrows.
Whereas surgical procedures can often take at least two weeks to heal with a painful recovery process, this non-surgical procedures take only days and is virtually painless. The only anesthesia needed for the Madonna Lift is topical numbing cream that is applied to the eyelids, making it a safe and effective alternative to traditional eyelid surgery without many of the risks, scarring and downtime.
In order to achieve the best results from the Madonna Lift, three to five sessions are recommended, delivered at two to three week intervals. With results you have to see to believe, this quick and easy procedure is helping patients find their own version of the Fountain of Youth and have left them thrilled to look in the mirrow.

'Light'-Ening Fast Anti-Aging Treatment
January 21, 2011 (New York, NY) - The common misconception among women in search of a "quick-fix" solution to their tired, aging skin is to turn to well-known injectables for a plumping and tightening-effect. What most don't realize is that there is a revolutionary, virtually pain-free technology that delivers dramatic skin tightening and wrinkle reduction results without the pain and recovery of needle injections. Always at the forefront of the latest anti-aging skin care technoloiges, Manhattan-based JUVA Skin and Laser Center specializes in the Accent Dual Mode RF System.
Accent Dual radio frequency, or RF, combines two radio frequencies - one that treats thinner skin, such as skin that lies just over bone, and one that penetrates deeper into dermal and sub-dermal tissues. The technology can be used to treat a wide range of aesthetic conditions.
According to JUVA Skin & Laser Center director Bruce E. Katz, M.D., some of the benefits of the approach are that it is non-invasive, requires no anesthesia, and is a virtually painless skin rejuvenation treatment.
"Skin tightening laser treatments that are less invasive and provide for a speedier recovery are very important to patients now," explains Bruce E. Katz, M.D., director of JUVA Skin & Laser Center. "With the Accent Dual Mode RF System patients notice a sifnificant difference in skin laxity immediately following the treatment."
Accent Dual Mode was developed by Alma Lasers Ltd., a leading developer and marketer of light-, laser- and radiofrequency-based aesthetic devices used in dermatology. Clinical trials of the technology demonstrated that Accent was particularly effective in the treatment of skin laxity in the neck.
For a consultation with Dr. Bruce Katz or to learn more about JUVA Skin & Laser Center please visit www.juvaskin.com or call (212)688-5882.

Bruce E. Katz, M.D. of Juva Skin & Laser Center Pioneers "The Madonna Lift" Fractional Eyelift Procedure
Bruce Katz, M.D. of Juva Skin & Laser Center, working with fractional CO2 technology previously used for fractional laser resurfacing treatments, has pioneered "The Madonna Lift," a new fractional eyelift procedure that acts as a safe and effective alternative to traditional eyelid surgery. Since receiving FDA clearance in 2004, fractional laser resurfacing has benefited millions of patients. The Madonna Lift will increase that number.
Fractional CO2 works by using laser beamlike columns, targeting a very specific area while leaving surrounding tissue intact. These beams eradicate damaged fibers in the skin and encourage new tissue with fresh elasticity to grow back in its place. Because the whole of the skin is not affected, healing is quick and far less painful than other procedures.
"The Madonna fractional eyelift dramatically reduces the appearance of dark circles and eye wrinkles, tightens upper and lower eyelid skin, and helps to elevate drooping eyebrows," said Dr. Katz. "It has a number of the benefits of a surgical eyelift without the risks and downtime. The only problem it doesn't address is bulging fat pads.
Metal eye shields are used during treatment to protect a patient's eyes from injury. The only anesthesia needed for the procedure is a numbing cream that is applied to the eyelids; as a results, downtime is minimal.
"A recent study of fractional eyelifts involving more than 100 participants showed dramatic and consistent results, "added Dr. Katz. "In order to achieve the best results from the Madonna Lift, I would recommend between three and five sessions, delivered at two-to-three week intervals."

The Adonis Effect: Men Turn to Cosmetic Procedures to Perfect Their Image
NEW YORK, January 7, 2011 - The New Years ushers in a desire to look and feel our best. Thsoe in search of their own fountain of youth turn to cosmetic procedures to plump, nip and tuck away the years. But while most assume women make up the patient roster for cosmetic procedures, men have found ways to improve their self-image as well. They are just keeping it a secret.
On any given day, if you look in the reception area of the renowned JUVA Skin & Laser Center in Manhattan, you will notice just as many male patients as female. Dr. Adam Schaffner, Director of Plastic Surgery at JUVA, says men are turning to him for ways they can look adn feel like a better man.
Whether it is for personal fulfillment or to enhance a professional image, popular facial procedures include enhancing jaw lines to project a strong impression, injecting BOTOX Cosmetic and fillers to eliminate the look of fatique, trimming extra skin and softening wrinkles around the eyes, and fixing nasal imperfections like bumps, ridges and a bulbous tip.
Making alterations to a man's body has become increasingly more popular in the past decade as advances in laser and cosmetic procedures have made them easier and more accessible. Whether treating "man boobs", known as gynecomastia, love handles, or a lack of definition, liposuction can help reshape areas to improve contour. Lipoetching accentuates the pectoral, abdominal and oblique muscles. Finally, laser-assisted liposuction helps tighten skin and reduce the amount of bruising and swelling associated with other liposuction techniques.
"There is a misconception that cosmetic procedures are geared towards preserving a woman's youth and that men don't have similar insecurities about their face or body," said Dr. Schaffner. "Men discreetly and quickly undergo minimally invasive procedures that help achieve their desired image."
